The Ladies’ Bible study is one of the most popular midweek groups at NEC. For those who are able, it’s a great chance to pause for a short while in the midst of another hectic weekly schedule and to focus on the Lord, to pray and to enjoy fellowship with other Christian women.
It’s very informal and relaxed and there is usually plenty of time for fellowship and chat both before and after the study. We usually break into two groups (although if there are only a few of us, we will all remain together) and follow a study series. The format really encourages us to talk about the things we have learned and how we might apply the wonderful truths of the Bible into our everyday lives.
After the study, we have a short time where we can pray for each other or any other needs and requests that are brought before the group.
When do we meet?
We meet every Tuesday morning during school term time. The study itself starts at 10:15am but many of the ladies start arriving from around 9:45am to enjoy tea, coffee and chat beforehand.
Who’s it for?
Ladies of all ages are very welcome. Some who attend are active members at Newark Evangelical Church, some attend the church just occasionally and others come simply because they are interested in learning more about what the Bible is all about. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like and we will do our best to answer them! If you are at home with children and feel it might be too difficult to attend, please bring them along with you, they are most welcome. There is a ‘manned’ crèche in operation between 10:15 and 11:30 so you can enjoy the study itself and there are usually lots of other children in attendance.
We meet at the home of NEC, which is situated on the corner of Portland Street and Pelham Street, just a few minutes’ walk from Newark town centre.
Other chances for prayer and study
If you are not able to make Tuesday mornings but would still like the chance to pray with other ladies, then the Ladies Prayer meeting could be an option on Monday Mornings. Thursday night is when we meet all together (men and women) either in the church building or around Newark in various homes for further Bible study and prayer. Check out the church calendar or call us for more information.
