CLAY – Sunday Youth Group
CLAY – What is it and what do we do?
CLAY is NEC’s after church youth group and is a great opportunity for people in their mid to late teens and early twenties to meet together, get to know each other a bit better, make friends, have some fun but also to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, informal setting.
As we mentioned it’s really informal and we always have something to eat together (usually a cooked meal, rustled up by team leaders John & Hannah). It’s a great time to chat, have a laugh and catch up on the week’s events but also to ask the team any questions you might have about church, faith or anything you might be struggling with (there’s no pressure though, so don’t worry!). At least once a term, we have a games night which is another chance to relax, have a bit of fun and get to know each other.
Most importantly, we make sure we spend some time looking at a passage or book in the Bible and take time to pray for each other or anything that might be on our hearts and minds.
Who is it for?
Everyone in the appropriate age group (year 10 of school up to early twenties) is very welcome. Some who come are regulars at either NEC or Fernwood Community Church and others just meet up with us after church has finished. Like we said, everyone is welcome to come along and join us.
When & where do we meet?
We meet a couple of times every month (usually on alternating Sundays) and the meeting itself takes place at John & Hannah’s home which is just a couple of minutes’ walk away from the NEC building. To make things much easier though, we all meet up at 6pm in the foyer (just through the front doors) of the church on Pelham street – this makes a great meeting point for those who have been to the afternoon church service and for those who just want to come to the CLAY group before we head off to John & Hannah’s place. There’s a comfy sofa in the foyer, so it’s easy to just chill out and relax until we’re all ready to head over to the meeting.
By the way, you’ll love John & Hannah – they’re so friendly and easy to chat to, you’ll feel at home in no time at all!
It’s important to keep an eye on the church calendar for the CLAY schedule, as our leaders sometimes have to work on Sundays. (They’re doctors you know!) For more information about the schedule or anything else, please just give the church a ring or drop us an email.
