This is a great opportunity for the men of the church, both young and old to meet together, get to know each other a bit better and to learn more about God’s Word and how to apply it practically and effectively into our everyday lives. It’s very informal and there’s a chance to enjoy a bit of breakfast (some of the guys can rustle up a top quality bacon sandwich!) and a hot drink before we get stuck in to the study.
Questions are welcomed and discussion (usually in small groups) is an important part of the morning as we seek to encourage one another in the faith. We normally conclude with a short time of open prayer. It really is a great way to start the weekend encouraged and refreshed!
Some of the materials we have looked at include, “Disciplines of a Godly Man” by R. Kent Hughes and have covered topics such as Discipline of Mind, Discipline of Devotion, Discipline of Prayer and Discipline of Worship.
When do we meet?
We try to meet monthly and target the last Saturday in the month. This isn’t always possible, so please keep an eye on our church calendar or monthly notices for the latest updates. We kick off at 8:30am for breakfast and chat. The study starts at 9am if you would like to just attend this part of the meeting.
Who’s it for?
Any man interested in furthering and deepening their relationship with God, whilst also enjoying fellowship, chat and a bit of breakfast!
In the NEC church building – if the front door is locked, please head around to the back of the building (via the church car park) and use the back doors.
What they say…
“I have really enjoyed the Men’s Breakfast meetings I’ve been able to get to so far. It might feel like an early start for a Saturday but I can definitely recommend it to any of the guys looking for some encouragement in their faith. I always come away from the meetings with a refreshed vigour for the challenges that lie ahead both in the faith and life in general. The Bible and breakfast – what’s not to like?” Julian
